St. Baldricks – Rock the Bald 2017
Three separate events took place around Hampton Roads, all to benefit the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Shaving for Heroes is the foundation's event to raise funds for childhood cancer research and to honor our men and women in uniform who have been affected by childhood cancer.
The day started at Crossfit Krypton, where a charity workout was held and proceeds went to help the cause. Next was the main event at Roger Brown's Restaurant and Sports Bar where several men, women and children "braved the shave" to continue the donations towards the $60,000 goal. Finally, things wound down at Big Ugly Brewing where the Big. Bold. Bald. team shaving took place.
The event organizer, Dr. Cole Bryan, is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and was thrilled to have surpassed the goal with over $69,000 raised!
